The abstract Kiss

More abstraction (at least in this particular prototype) doesn't really add much to the Kiss, but robs it of some sensuality, which is the essential part of the idea. I'll have to find better abstraction to make the Kiss perfect.

Arms in the Kiss

The arms in this prototype are too obviously shaped to fit the concept of the Kiss.

The arms are the most problematic part of the Kiss. In this version there are simply too many of them.
This prototype features one innovation - the arms go down the back, rather than embrace the shoulders. This is due to the fact that shoulder embracing arms add too much volume to the top of the statue, making it look like the Academy's Oscar. I'll look into just making the whole top part thinner, though it might look too feminine, as if those are two girls kissing. The gender distinction goes against the concept behind the Kiss.

Spare parts of the Kiss

Spare parts

The basic form has been found long ago - two people seen from the back, twisting with passion. You can't tell if it's a girl or a guy. It has to be abstract. I need to find the perfect balance of abstract and realistic.

The concept behind the Kiss

There's an ancient myth that people had once four legs, four arms and two heads. Then Zeus cut the people in two, and since then we are looking for our other halves.

This is one of the ideas behind The Kiss.

The other one is a personal experience of so much passion, that you embrace each other harder and harder, trying to merge into one creature. Have you had any moments like that? For those who had I want to create a statuette - The Kiss.

The first ever prototype of The Kiss was made about two years ago. It was a gift. It was very small and painted gold. I made it in twenty minutes just to freeze the idea.

Now I will share it with everyone. This is going to be a story of creation of the new Kiss — perfectly balanced, abstractly realistic, finished with bright transparent layers of laquer. A must have for everyone who is in love or passion.

The perfect lover's gift — the Kiss.
